BIO
Travis Roozée is a Chicago, Illinois, based photographer and artist. He received a BA in Photography from Columbia College Chicago in 1993 (the era of Photoshop 1.0) and his MFA in Photography from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2010 (the year Instagram launched). His exhibition history includes solo shows at the Museum of the City of New York and Arsenal Gallery, both in New York City. His work has been included in exhibitions at Filter Space, Chicago, IL; Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, MI; Butter Projects, Royal Oak, MI; and Houston Center for Photography, Houston, TX. He has been selected as one of the 2022 Applebaum Artists-in-Residence at Darkroom Detroit, MI.
Travis’s personal work scrutinizes geography and the built environment as they relate to consumerism, industrial practices, and material decay. His recent projects merge 19th-century photographic processes with virtually generated content.
